HOLLY LIPTON

Holly Lipton spent almost two years on thr road playing mary in “Jesus Christ Superstar.”  This datum in itself should give an indication of her vocal stance.

Sincerity and shading take precedent over dramatics and belting.  She displays an inner strength, but saves her fortissimous until they are absolutely required.  For the most part, hers is a middle of the road act geared to easy listening.

For the most part, Holly  seems to be her own person, or at least well on the way towards a firmly committed style.

It is refreshing to hear a singer who, without writing her own material, does take the trouble to find something beyond the Carole King – Helen Reddy – Carly Simon songbooks.
